12.29.17: Here I am ending another year eating all of my favorite foods because on January 1st I’m starting the year off right. There are only 14 months left before I turn 40 & I’m making a promise to myself that I am not going to still be fat on my 40th birthday.
Never mind the fact that I promised myself the same thing about not being fat on my daughters 1st birthday and despite the fact that she was wearing #TerrificTwo very well (I didn’t know it would start right when she turned two), I on the other hand was still wearing all of my pregnancy weight two years later. *shrugs*
Anyways, things are going to be different this time around. I don’t know how. I haven’t figured out all the details yet, but they are. *fingers crossed* This good fried chicken from Hot Chicken Takeover is calling my name so I’ll see ya later!
1.1.18: The first is here. Another new year. Ok… I’m going to lose the weight this year, all 50 pounds of it. No really, I AM! I’m going to do it this time for real.
The new year got here so quick that I haven’t even made a decision as to how I’m going to lose the 50 pounds yet, but I’m going to do it.
I’ve been toying with the idea of working out at the gym four times a week. I could definitely go on the weekends if I wake up early enough to get a workout in before my hubby goes to work. Then I can just add two other days during the week and I’ll get my four workouts in.
It sounds easy enough, but I’ve tried this route before and it didn’t work. By the time I get off work, get my workout clothes on & get to the gym it’s almost time for me to pick my daughter up from daycare so I end up doing 30 minutes of cardio & jumping back in the car. That’s not effective.
I need a workout program that I can do at home and in hotels when I’m traveling for work. I’ll research at home workouts that don’t require equipment.

~Jillian Michaels: From the website it looks like she has created a very comprehensive app. I have one of her DVDs in a crate in my garage. I think it’s 30 Day Shred. I liked it even though I didn’t stick with it, but that’s the old me. This is the new me. If I go with her, I’m going to stick to it this time. There’s also all types of meal plans & a food tracker (Food. OMG! I haven’t even thought about the changes that I need to make in this area. Jesus be a fence. There’s a lot of decisions that I need to make TODAY!). She has a new year sale going on right now. A full year of access for only $69. This may be something I can do.
~Beachbody on Demand: The crate that I have my Jillian Michaels DVD’s also includes P90x, Insanity and a few more of Shaun T’s videos & the Turbo series. Over the years I’ve tried a lot of Beachbody’s offerings. They have a FREE two week trial, but even though I think that I’ll probably do Insanity again eventually, I’m not ready yet. I’m way too out of shape for that. I can also see myself doing P90x again when I’m ready to start toning up. Let me get some of this fat off first & I’ll revisit this option later.
~Results in 28 Days (#RI28): This just popped up on my Facebook timeline out of nowhere. Don’t you love how Facebook takes what you’re googling & gives you a bunch of ads related to the topic? *eyes rolling* Usually I don’t pay much attention to the ads, but this one caught my attention. The transformations on their website are AMAZING. Can you really shred your body like that in less than a month? Part of me doesn’t believe it, but I’m intrigued. If they can do it, why not me? They don’t give you much info about the actual workouts on the website, but they do offer a beginners program that they say is low impact but will give you results. Should I try that one? Naw… I don’t think I want low impact workouts. I’m going to try the regular program. $40… 28 days… New body. I think I’ll give it a try. Where’s my credit card? Ok… I’m in. Wish me luck!
Now that I’ve logged into my account I see that they suggest that you take pics. I had my husband take a few of me. They are NOT pretty at all. Actually pretty disgusting to be honest. I can’t believe that I let myself get here again. No Tears Erica! I can do this & to keep myself accountable, I’m sharing these terrible pics with you all. Here goes nothing…
1.2.18: This first workout was rough. It was so difficult that me, myself & I really had to talk to each other. Our conversation pretty much went like this…
Damn! This sh** was harder than I anticipated. #RI28 is NO JOKE!
Maybe I should have started with the beginners version. I don’t know what I was thinking when I signed up for the regular challenge. In order to get through this month I’m going to need a better strategy.
Ok, Erica, what can I do differently tomorrow? What changes do I need to make in order to slay my goals this month?
1. KEEP MOVING! Modify the exercises so that I can finish the entire 40 seconds rather than taking breaks throughout.
2. Remember this is MY workout! I can’t do a full sit up (yet) so I’ll do the same motions, but with crunches
3. Running in place killed me. I’ll run back & forth between rooms instead
4. I didn’t really sweat as much I would have liked so purchase a waist trimmer to wear during workouts
5. MUSIC! Set up the bluetooth speaker in the living room so that I can play my own music. I can’t take hearing ‘No Days Off’ one more time!
Ok. I’ll try these 5 changes & hopefully I feel better after tomorrow’s workout. *Fingers crossed!
1.3.18: Another workout in the books. If I’m going to be working this hard, then I need to figure out a way to get paid for this ish. This is harder than my 9-5. Let me research how to get paid to lose weight.
I’ve finished my research and found that the most common way to get paid to lose weight is by placing a bet on myself using HealthyWage.
Sounds great, right?
Well it did before I read the fine print.
The way the process works, I’d be paying them $100/month for 9 months. That $100 is going to continue coming out of my account for 9 months even if I lose all of my weight in 5 months.
No matter how quickly the weight comes off, I don’t do my final weigh in until September and if I weigh 163 or less at that time, then I get paid from them.
That’s cool, but it’s not for me.
First of all, I don’t believe in the concept of paying money to get money. I could be doing much more with $100 per month then giving it to a company and not seeing any return on it for almost a year.
Secondly, I don’t want to wait that long to start seeing money in my bank account. If I’m losing weight NOW, then I want to get paid NOW.

1.6.18: It’s been a few days since my last post. The workouts are going much better than I anticipated. I’m starting to get use to them and modifying the parts that I can’t quite do yet is working quite well. I’m following a diet that consists of me eating 5 small meals per day with two of those being meal replacement shakes. I’ve outlined my entire meal plan in the FIT Healthy Eats guide which you can download here.
For my meal replacement shakes, I’ve been using Vi Shape. I found a great deal on Amazon where I can order a 1 month supply for $85, but six days in I’m already tired of them. I need more variety and different flavors. I’m going to look for some other alternatives, but in the meantime I’d love to hear your favorite shake & flavor.
