“2018 is going to be the year that I lose ALL of this weight.”

It seems like I’ve been saying this same line my entire life and every year it’s the same result. I make a New Year Resolution that I’m going to lose such & such pounds, proclaim that it’s going to be the year that I get skinny, but by the time that the end of the year rolls around I find that not much has changed from the previous year. Don’t get me wrong. It hasn’t ALWAYS been like this.

As you can see, my weight yo-yo’s…. Up and down…. Up and down it goes…

My daughter is 2 years old and I’m still holding on to some of my pregnancy weight. As a matter of fact, on January 1st I weighed in at 213.6 pounds.

Seeing that number on the scale left me feeling empty and disappointed.

How could I have let myself get here again?

That feeling didn’t last too long because as I was scrolling through my FB feed I received a powerful word that changed everything. (Yes, I got it on FB, but that’s the power of God. He’ll meet you right where you are. LOL!) Now I’m not trying to get preachy on you all. That’s not me at all, but I truly believe that your being here right now, reading this very sentence is no accident.

You’re here so that you too can receive a word that will bless your life so I have to share it with you.

Amos 9:13-15 (MSG) “Yes indeed, it won’t be long now.” God’s Decree. “Things are going to happen so fast your head will swim, one thing fast on the heels of the other. You won’t be able to keep up. Everything will be happening at once – and everywhere you look, blessings! Blessings like wine pouring off the mountains and hills. I’ll make everything right again… God, your God, says so.”

Wow! This is the year where blessings will pour into your life like wine!

If that scripture didn’t resonate with you, then I highly recommend that you find a quote that inspires you to achieve great things.

It’s important to understand the power of a negative mindset. The negative thoughts that we have about ourselves and our ability to create the change we desire can work against us if we don’t put it in check.

Having a scripture or quote to refer back to when negative thoughts creep in ensures that you keep moving forward even when times get rough. I read Amos 9:13-15 every morning as a part of my daily devotion time so that I start my day off with a reminder that THIS IS MY YEAR!

To get to the point where there are blessings resonating everywhere from your life requires that you FOCUS, IMPLEMENT an action plan & TRIUMPH in one area at a time. This is what I refer to as a FIT Plan – Focus Implement Triumph!

“The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don’t define them, or ever seriously consider them as believable or achievable. Winners can tell you where they are going, what they plan to do along the way, and who will be sharing the adventure with them.” ~Denis Waitley

Here’s how you can get started with your FIT Plan in the next 10 minutes:

FOCUS: Write down one goal that you have for this year.

  • My goal for 2018 is to lose 50 pounds.

IMPLEMENT: Slaying your goal requires that you commit to implementing a plan of action. When creating your initial plan, don’t get bogged down in the details. Often times we get so stuck on creating a plan that we never begin to implement it. To avoid this scenario, keep it simple. You can always figure out the details later.

  • My 2018 action plan consists of 3 simple steps:
    • Eat Healthy
    • Work Out
    • Share My Success

TRIUMPH: It’s extremely important to monitor your progress every month and celebrate your successes, even small ones. In order to know what triumph looks like in your life, create a list of the changes that you want to see in your life that are aligned to each step of your action plan. When you get there, celebrate your victories!

  • The changes I want to see in 2018 are:
    • With the exception of my cheat days, consume a daily diet consisting of 5 small meals, including 2 replacement shakes (Vi Shape)
    • Drink at least  ½ my weight in water everyday
    • Increase my steps to 50,000 per week
    • Workout 30 minutes or more 4-5 times per week
    • Create a safe space to share my success and encourage others on the same journey
    • Post daily sharing updates, struggles, etc on my blog and/or social media platforms

Now that you have created your FIT plan, it’s time to get to work and slay your goals.

If the goal that you chose to focus on is related to health and fitness goals, then you’re definitely in the right place.

No matter what your specific goals are, we will embark on this journey together.

The best part is that it’s not just me and you. There is an entire community composed of individuals just like you that are working hard to slay their goals and we call ourselves the FIT Slayers.
